American Sign Language Training
Courses using Signing Naturally curriculum taught by a qualified deaf instructor.
American Sign Language (ASL) training for Deaf, Deafblind, and Deaf Plus learners, as well as anyone seeking to communicate effectively with Deaf clients, colleagues, or co-workers in workplace environments.
Signing Naturally ASL is the native language of Deaf individuals in North America. Our courses are non-accredited interest classes.
Curriculum Overview
Signing Naturally uses a functional, national approach: the language taught is the language used in everyday conversation. Through interactive learning, students develop skills in:
-
Confirming and correcting information
-
Expressing degrees of certainty
-
Asking for clarification and repetition
-
Understanding Deaf culture
Class Environment: All courses operate in an ASL immersion, no-voice environment. Students are asked to keep their voice off during classes.
Fingerspelling: Integrated at all levels, improving both receptive and expressive fingerspelling, essential for names and words without established signs.
Classifiers: Each level incorporates classifiers, which enhance the ability to show movement, location, and appearance in signing. Classifiers are simple, fun, and practical tools for everyday communication with Deaf individuals.
