SCOPE’s Outreach program supports families raising children with developmental disabilities experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.

The Gateways program supports families raising children with disabilities who are experiencing barriers (mental health, multiple children with disabilities, low income and/or English as a second language) in accessing resources and services in the community.
Gateways also supports with the transition of youth with a disability to adult services, including assisting with applications, future planning, and ensuring the child has supports in place when they turn 18.

The Triple P program is a scientifically researched, curriculum-based parenting program for families of children aged 2–17.
This program offers tools and strategies to help parents encourage positive behaviour, build a good relationship with their child, help teach new skills and encourage development and manage misbehaviour, as well as supporting parents to take care of themselves, cope with stress and gain confidence.

This is a free service.How does it work?
Participants meet with a trained practitioner for one hour per week. The length of the program varies: 5 – 7 weeks for shorter programs, 4 – 6 months for longer programs.How do we get support?

SCOPE can provide counselling for families raising children aged 0-18 with developmental disabilities.
Counselling can be provided for parents only, or the whole family to improve wellbeing and work towards goals in a collaborative way.

SCOPE’s Community Support Team (CST) supports adults (18+) with a dual diagnosis to live fulfilling lives in the community.
Providing wrap-around, person-centered supports to clients based on their needs, goals, interests and relationships, CST specializes in supporting people with mental health challenges and complex support needs to live and thrive.
We see our individuals through a holistic, trauma-informed perspective, collaborating with clinicians who support both the physical and mental health needs of our clients, and are passionate about understanding complex support needs and finding creative, clinically-sound solutions to situations that may have been difficult in other service arrangements.

SCOPE provides highly specialized supports to deaf/blind individuals who require complex behavioral and mental health services, and who are also in need of specialized communication interventions as a result of vision loss, hearing loss or both.
In addition these individuals require Deaf/Deaf Blind Interveners who act as the individual’s eyes and ears and provide communication in American Sign Language (ASL) via traditional and/or hand-over-hand signing.
Other modes of communications are used based on individual learning styles and needs; every program is matched on an individual basis. We can provide anywhere from 5 hours of day support per week to 24 hours per day.
To be eligible for The Community Support Program the individual must have Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) funding.
Referrals can be made by the individual, family, health care provider, PDD or supporting community members.

Our counselling program provides free counselling services to adults with developmental disabilities.

TIPS is a voluntary program that provides tailored strategies to individuals and can assist with connecting to resourcing and services in the community.

Disability Commons (formerly Disability Action Hall) started in 1998, and is comprised of adults with disabilities and allies who meet week to share stories and work on issues of social justice together. We work towards a better Alberta for everyone. We meet to talk about disability pride and culture, resources, housing, services, supports and how to make change. We work in coalitions, act as advisors, create events, do presentations and much more.

Seniors: 45 years+

The Journeys team supports older adults (45+) with developmental disabilities as well as age-related and mental health diagnoses in both Calgary and in Ridgestone Lodge in Black Diamond.
The program provides support based on the needs and wants of each individual client, from 5 hours of day support per week to a 24 hour staffed residence.
From proactive health care to assistance in finding and securing appropriate housing to facilitating leisure opportunities, Journeys successfully supports people to live very active lives in their community.
Referrals can be made by the individual, family, health care provider, PDD or supporting community members.

JOURNEYS FAQs:Are there any eligibility requirements to receive support from the Journeys program?
Yes – individuals must have a developmental disability and be receiving funding from Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD). -
Ridgestone Lodge shares the vision of the Journeys Calgary program, supporting individuals in a purpose-built lodge to support aging people.
Ridgestone Lodge is fully accessible, with resident suite’s all on one main floor. Each suite is equipped with its own roll-in shower, as well as both emergency on-call systems installed in the private space in every suite and a portable device for individual residents to carry on their person if they so choose. Residents also have a number of shared spaces within the lodge, and are actively involved in determining how these spaces are used.
Ridgestone Lodge itself is an active community, and we support individuals to have active involvement in the community around them as well.

RIDGESTONE LODGE FAQs:
Are there different eligibility criteria for Ridgestone Lodge?
Yes – individuals must be aged 45 years or older, as the facility has been zoned as 45+. They must also be eligible for 24 hour support through PDD, and comfortable living in a group setting. Individuals must also have a stable mental health diagnosis for the past 5 years. We will consider clients with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression, but cannot consider additional people with borderline personality disorder or active delusional disorder due to the challenges of congregate living.Can Ridgestone Lodge support medical support needs too?
Yes – we can support with total personal care, lifting and transferring (using a mechanical lift), medication administration, colostomy and catheter care, nutrition/feeding and more. We are currently unable to perform invasive procedures, but continue discussions with PDD and AHS to build further capacity to support with complex medical needs.
